Zdaje sie, że co 6 tyś km.
Za Haynesem (str. 33 pkt 6)
Obviously, this task applies only to those models fittes with a manual cam chain tensioner (ie all 500 models except the the CX500 E-C and GL500 D-C).
Rotate the engine until the left hand piston is at TDC on the compression stroke, ie with both valves closed and the TL mark on the alternator rotor in aligment with the index pointer. It will be necessary to remove the left-hand cylinder head cover to check, bu it valve clearence adjustment has just been carried out the engine will alreade be closed to the correct position.
Losen the cam chain tensioner adjustment bolt, the head of witch protrudes from the engine rear casing, just above the timing mark inspection aperture. When the bolt is loosened - aproximateky two full turns - the tensioner automatically adjust the tensioner blade to the correct value. Tighten the bolt to a torqe setting of 0.8 - 1.2 kgfm. On some machines, due to the casing thickness, the bolt will tighten up as it butts against the casing, before being loosened a full two turns. Do not force the bolt to unscrew because it may shear.
If any unusual noises ever lead you to suspect that all is not well with the cam cain tensioner, either have the machine lisend to by a Honda expert, or remove the engine from the frame and witdraw the engine cover to check carrefully the tensioner assembly. Since the potential for serious damage is so great, no odd engine noises should be allowed to go un-checken on these machines.
